Canada Computers Breaks Ground For Its New Corporate Headquarters And Main Distribution Centre

(“Canada Computers”), Canada’s largest Canadian owned retailer of computers and electronics is pleased to report that on November 16, 2022 it completed a ground breaking ceremony marking the official commencement of construction of its new head office and main logistics centre.
The new site at 168 Ultimate Drive is prominently located on 6.28 acres of land in the heart of Richmond Hill, Ontario and will feature a modern, state-of-the-art headquarters facility comprised of more than 151,000 square feet. The facility will also be home to Canada Computers’ main distribution centre that will support its 42 retail locations and future expansions.
Canada Computers’ C.E.O. Gordon Chan and Canada Computers’ C.F.O. Mary Chan lead the groundbreaking ceremony, together with the City of Richmond Hill’s Mayor, David West, and Councillor Castro Liu. The celebration was also attended by many of Canada Computers’ strategic partners.
Founded in 1991, Canada Computers has expanded from its university residence in Kingston, Ontario that offered budget-friendly items to local university students to 42 locations across Canada.

Our Assurance to Provide a Fair Opportunity to Purchase GPU

To our valued Canada Computers customers,
Given the current state of available graphics card (GPU) in the market, Canada Computers is taking further steps to ensure that our customers have a fair opportunity to purchase a GPU. We have recently received some inventory but have not released them as it has taken longer than expected to implement these measures.
As many in our community are aware, customers have faced difficulties in purchasing GPUs due to limited supply and unprecedented demand. This problem is further exacerbated by unscrupulous individuals who are taking advantage of the situation by purchasing our limited supply for re-sale on the buy-and-sell markets at a profit.
To address this issue, we have adopted a “one (1) card per customer” policy and implemented various measures to promote fair access. These include the following:
a. Cancelling multiple or duplicate orders placed by the same customer.
b. Enhancing website protection to screen for suspicious activity such as bots, scripts, etc.
c. Verifying purchasers’ cell phone numbers, last name, and last 4 digits of payment cards.
It appears that these measures have only had a limited effect on those who try to take advantage of the situation. While we do not generally screen our customers, we believe that Canada Computers plays a vital role in the community and should intercede when necessary. To that end, we will be implementing additional steps to ensure customers have a fair opportunity in purchasing a graphics card. This will include verifying purchasers’ home address and full name before they can receive a GPU. All personal information collected will be used for the sole purpose of ensuring customers can purchase only one GPU from Canada Computers.
We are diligently working to implement these new measures and expect to have them in place by the week of April 26, 2021. Once in place, customers first in the backorder queue can expect receipt of their order upon successful verification.
Canada Computers will continue to monitor the situation and we are appreciative of everyone’s patience and understanding.

Hackapalooza will teach coding and web design skills to beginners of all ages; hosted by Ladies Learning Code with support from Canada Computers

(Markham, Ontario) - Ladies Learning Code, a non-profit group working to teach beginner-friendly technical skills to kids and adults, will be hosting Hackapalooza on June 7th and 8th at The Lab in Toronto, Ontario, with Canada Computers providing technical support.
Participants of all ages will try their hand at coding and web design during the two-day workshop, which will feature a comprehensive team of instructors and mentors to guide students through CSS, branding, and user experience skills. Held at The Lab, a 7000 square foot digital literacy hub in Toronto's downtown core, the Canada Computers team will be onsite providing equipment and technical support to both students and instructors out of an expert Tech Bench, which will also serve as a space for students to test out their work.
Laura Plant, Director at Ladies Learning Code, is seeing a growing demand in people wanting to gain experience in advanced computer skills – "there's so many people out there looking for beginner-friendly spaces to get their feet wet with code, HTML, CSS, and [other technologies] that are becoming such an important part of jobs these days."
